Ivor Royston, M.D. is the co-founder of Forward Ventures, and was the founding President and
CEO of the non-profit Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. In 1978, he was a
co-founder of San Diego’s first biotechnology company, Hybritech, Inc. (now a
subsidiary of Beckman Coulter) which was sold to Eli Lilly in 1986 for $480
million. Dr. Royston has been instrumental in the establishment of more than 10
other biotechnology companies, most notably IDEC Corporation, which merged with
Biogen in 2003 to form Biogen Idec, Inc. Born in England, Dr. Royston moved to
the United States when he was nine years old. He is a producer of Jersey Boys
which won the 2006 Tony award for best musical.
Randy Broberg, recently named one of the best transactional intellectual
property attorneys in San Diego by the San Diego Daily Transcript, is a partner
at the law firm of Allen Matkins. His diverse clients have included
representing General Atomics in a manufacturing arrangement against a Korean
company, representing tennis player Serena Williams to acquire the domain name www.serenawilliams.com, and trademark representation of
Directed Electronics, maker of the Viper car alarms.
