In 1996, Clay Christensen, a professor at Harvard Business School, wrote a book called “The Innovator’s Dilemma.” The book’s theme is that

disruptive technologies are innovations that upset “the existing order of things” and that “incumbents generally do not react to disruptive technologies until it is too late.”

Well, say hello to the Encyclopaedia Britannica. You know, those 20 volumes, bound in leather that sat on the shelf in the family room, and you (if you were born in the 1940s or 1950s) would go there to get the answer to all things — all things. You did your homework with the help of the Britannica.
